July, 2002 (Month 14)(images from August 7 to September 5)


I'm now over 13 months old, and my vocabulary is growing by a few words every day.  I can say "Up", "Shoe", "Hat", "Hot", and a couple of other words ("Mama" and "Dada", of course), but I understand a few hundred words.  It's tough for Mommy and Daddy to say something that I don't understand (so no more "I think the baby's sleeping" comments, since I hear and understand every word!).  I'm eating more and more everyday, and Mommy's taking me off breastmilk (slowly but surely!).  I'm still having trouble going to sleep (I just don't want to miss out on anything), but other than that, life is perfect!

Ah...the raft!  This is so much fun! Watch me play! Daddy went swimming with me first. Watch!
We played on the raft together... ...then I sat and watched the fountain.
I tried to reach it... ...but then I just tried to command it.
Ah, laying out and getting some sun! I sat on the raft for a few minutes by myself!
Then Mommy came in and swam with me... ...and we got on the raft together!
Later, we went and picked some plums. They were really good!
Grandpa fed me some plums... ...he sure knows how to grow 'em!
Grandma watched as we picked them. I picked one myself.
Thanks, Grandpa! I'm a maestra!  Watch me play!

Week 3:
Alex eats ice cream on the beach! Sometimes it gets a little messy.
But it sure tastes good! Ooh, look...the sun is setting!
Can we go watch the sun set? OK...Mommy and I will go down there.
All the way to the water, please! Wow...look at that!
Daddy shows me where to look. Oooh...it's beautiful!
Yay!  The sun has set, and my arms are up! Now I'm at Sea World with my friend Phoebe.
I'll just feed Phoebe a little...watch! I don't usually crawl...watch me run!
I went to a birthday party...and held a shaker egg. I kept the egg, even when...
...Daddy took me into a big bouncy thing! Look, I can kiss Daddy through the glass!
I can do it with Mommy, too! OK, bath time!
Whoa, bubbles! Bubbles are fun to play with.  Watch!

We're off to feed the ducks! Feeding the ducks is fun.  Watch!

That's a little close for comfort. I get tired when I ride in the car.
