August, 2002 (Month 15)(images from August 7 to September 5)


At the beginning of this month, I turned a corner, vocabulary-wise.  I can now repeat (to a certain extent) many of the words I hear...including my name!  Of course, it doesn't always sound exactly like the word I'm trying to say, but I know what I'm saying.  When I'm on the swing, I can say "higher!", and when I want to go up or down, I can say the words.  I can say "dog", "uh oh", "shoe", "sock", "hot", "hat", "hi", "Alex", "Mama", and "Dada", and I can answer questions with a distinct yes or no (and I can nod or shake my head as well).  I like to climb on everything, and I love to wrestle on the bed or get tossed in the air.  I'm very strong-willed, and I still have trouble falling asleep at night (or for naps during the day), but I'm getting better all the time.

  I better hold on. A cup is a hat, too.

I can nod pretty well now!
And I can say my name!  (Kind of.)

Week 2 begins!
  Here I am, sitting in my favorite chair... I can get down by myself...
 
  Here I go! ("Down!") At the grandparents' in LA...who's that?
 
  Hey, it's my second cousin Macy! Macy and I played on the floor...
 
  ...well, we played near each other. Then it was picture time.  Here's Daddy...
 
  ...and here's the three of us. (And my nose.) Here's Great Grandma and cousin Amy!
 
  Macy and I played with Aunt Kathy's shirt. And I kissed the fish.
 
  Great grandma has two great grandchildren! A little piano before a swim.
 
  Macy and I jumped on the raft together. The whole family was in the pool!
 
  Here's a great family picture! Macy and I had lunch together.
  Sorry, no videos this week!
  One more chip before we leave!  
     
Week 3 begins here!
  Diaper rash isn't fun...although it means... ...cloth diapers -- which are lots of fun!
 
  But sometimes, all you can do is sleep it off. Assorted A-Dub hi-jinks:  under the table
 
  ...pointing outside... ...climbing in a box...
 
  ...climbing up on a chair... ...and standing on it, occasionally.
 
  Now it's time to draw! I can draw real well...
 
  ...and it's lots of fun! Yee-ha! Look what I just drew!
 
  It gets a little messy sometimes... ...but it's worth it.

Week 4:
  I went to a birthday party on Sunday... Nicholas turned one!
 
  I got to play with a big green ball... ...and it was fun, most of the time.
 
  Sunday afternoon, in my room! (sniff) I can smell the flower!
 
  I like to look out the window... Hey, what are those?
 
  They're strings from the blinds!  I want 'em! Ah ha...success!
 
  Now it's time to wash the car! I can get my rag all soaped up...
 
  Although I got wet in the process. Look, Mom -- I can help!
 
  I need a little more soap here... Both hands will do the trick...
 
  OK, Mommy -- I'm all done with that side! Washing the car is fun!
