January, 2003 (Month 20)(images from August 7 to September 5)

Alex continues to grow up every day;  she's becoming more and more our "little girl" instead of the baby.  She can follow nearly any instructions you give her, no matter how complicated, and her speech use and recognition has taken leaps and bounds in the last few weeks.  She can communicate her needs better (sometimes prefacing it with "I need" or "I want"), and her personality is very distinct:  there are many things she likes (walks outside, beef jerky, dancing, pasta, gum, Maisy, Oobi, making "tea", cameras, boxes, etc.), and many things she doesn't like (people playing with her hair, going to bed at night, spiders, and a few other things).  She's nearly completely healthy (no colds for at least a few months, although she's got a little nagging cough in the morning), and she eats and sleeps relatively well.

Daddy dresses me up like a tomboy sometimes. It's fun! (So is sitting in this chair.)

Here, Daddy...let me take the next picture. What's that?  Time for coloring?  Yay!

I can draw a circle like this... OK...what should I draw?

Daddy, what do you think? How about if I draw another circle?

Yay!  My masterpiece is complete! Now to put the cap back on the pen.

Or maybe I'll just draw on my fingers. Woody, say cheese! (Woody's the cat.)
Here's the videos for the week:

I can take pictures of Mommy and Daddy! (dark)
Mommy, say cheese! (short and dark)
Ride 'em, Peanut!

OK, Daddy...I'll take a picture of you now!

Week 2: My friend Max came over to play on Monday! We played on the slide...

...and in my kitchen! He got tired, while I strutted around.

I love my new beanbag! I think I'll take a nap right here.

Mommy and I read usually before bed. Now I'll prance around in Mommy's shirt!

I love my Mommy! But it's late, and I'm tired.

Daddy, can you pick me up? OK, one more smile.

Kiss Mommy goodnight! What you talking about, Daddy?
There's just one movie this week:

Watch me play in my nightgown!

I love my Daddy! (And he loves you, Alex.)

Week 3:
Time to paint in the backyard! Watch me paint! I'll give a quick smile before we get started.

Hmm...there needs to be some paint over here. A little red over here...

We'll just put all the colors together. Hey, I have some paint on my toe!

Time to get cleaned up! Ah...getting ready for a Sunday nap!
Here are the three movies for the week:
Watch me play with paint in the backyard!
Watch me dance..I'm entertaining Mommy and Daddy!
More dancing:  watch me dance (and then fall)!

Week 4: Why are Daddy and Alex smiling? (Watch!) Because Alex is getting thrown in the air!

And getting slurberts!  (Watch!) Look, Mommy...I'm at Sea World!

I love crawling on this soft thing. I could stay here for hours!

Especially with these big inflatable balls. How about some tea before dinner?

Here you go, Daddy.  (Watch us toast!) Doll, do you want some tea?

I like cooking "dinner" for Mommy and Daddy! (Watch!) It's fun being outside in my kitchen!

It's also fun playing in my balls (with Carolina).  (Watch!) I wear my favorite hat at least once a day.

Mommy gave me some ice cream! It was yummy!

Just one more bite! OK, more cooking...for real, this time!

Mommy made a cake, and I helped!  (Watch!) Here, Daddy...you try some!
Here are the movies for the week!

Daddy throws me in the air!
And then he kisses me until I laugh!
I like to make tea for Mommy! (blurry)
I can make a cake! (blurry)
Watch me play in the balls with Carolina!
I'm making dinner for Daddy! (blurry)

Week 5:
Let's start with a little flashing! OK...now I'm going to make faces!

This is my "you MUST be kidding" face. This is my "fake smile for the camera" face.

This is my "I'm faking being sad!" face. And this is my "trust me, Daddy" face.
Here's the only movie for the week:

I like to play with cups! (Dark, 45 sec.)

Note:  We're no longer limited to 15 second videos!
As a result, some videos may be VERY large in the future.
(Just warning you.)

OK, enough with the faces.  Want to play, Daddy?
