September, 2002 (Month 16)(images from August 7 to September 5) |
Let's see...Alex continues to get every non-fatal disease known to babies: at the beginning of this month, she's recovering from an ear infection. But she continues to be a brave soul about it...although she's not thrilled about taking her medication, she does so (usually) with a minimum of spitting it back up. She's starting to get more social, seeking out other children when she's in a public play area, and her vocabulary grows by the day (Mommy told her to go get a toy turtle out of a box of 150 or so little animals, and she walked across the room and did it). Eating: everything. Speaking: about 20 words. Sleeping: much better. Walking: nearly running. Issues: very few. This week's pictures are most of the way down the page (week 5)! |

I *love* eating apples! | They just make me so happy!
Look at all my teeth! | Ah, relaxing and apple-eating...life's good.
Here, Mommy -- want some? | Nope! I'll just eat it myself!
Here's my foot, out in the backyard. | And here's Mommy's garden.
Sometimes it's fun to play in the sprinklers! | Although the water's very cold!
OK, enough of that. | Slides are more fun when you're wet!
And so is driving my car. | Mommy and Daddy took me to the beach!
Hi, Daddy! | Look at the birds in the sky!
I got buried up to my waist. | I can *still* put sand in my bucket.
OK...I'm ready to get out now. | Mommy, help me out of here!
Ah, normal digging...much better. | Hey, is that Daddy out there?
Daddy...what's the deal with the water? | I don't really want to get wet...
Augh! The water is cold! | This is more to my liking.
Here comes Daddy back from his swim! | Maybe next time I'll go in for longer.
I love to run with the football! Watch me! | This is a "foot" "ball".
Yay! I love the front yard! ("Outside!") | Check me out in the laundry basket!
Whee! It's fun! Watch me! | It was fun to play in the water at Sea World!
I ran around, getting wet! | Really wet!
But it was fun. | And it was HOT...so I dried quickly.
We all watched Shamu... | ...and then I saw a dolphin.
That's it for this week... | ...I'm too cool for this joint! Watch me!
Here's the movies for the week: |
Running with the football Fumble! Dancing up a storm Another dance video (kind of dark) Alex sees herself in sunglasses Jumping into the laundry basket More time in the laundry basket Almost catching the ball! |
Week 2 starts here! |
Fast on her way to becoming a two-sport star. | Whoa! Daddy's got a camera!
Bubbles are fun! | Snack time!
I'm actually waving to an animal on TV. | Let's see...this one goes right HERE!
Mommy thinks I look cute in this hat. (I do.) | TIGGER! Hi, Daddy!

We went to Jon and Veronica's wedding! | First, we posed for a family shot...
![]() |

Then Mommy and Daddy watched me run around. | I sat in a regular chair at dinner...
![]() |
![]() |
...although it's more fun on Daddy's lap. | Heck, it's just fun.

Yes, that's my finger in my mouth again (teething). | Time to go home!
Thanks, Jay, Lydia and Rielyn for the wedding pictures!
Week 3: |
It's time to finger paint...yay! | It's really like "hand paint" to me...
Hmm...what happens when I touch my belly? | Let's see...a dab here, a dab there...perfect!
And now...a dab here! | Yay! I'm a mess!
Yippee! | Now I'll get Mommy messy!
OK...back to the serious stuff. | A little yellow here might be good...
...and some smeared red here...yes! | One yellow finger in a sea of mess.
Ah hah! The finished product! | An artist's hands!
Week 4: |
I love to draw...let's get started! | Ooh...what do you have...pens?
Let's see if I can get the cap off... | (Of course I can...I do it all the time.)
I just learned to climb up to the slide...want to see? | I get up on the first step...
...and then it's easy from there! | Yay! I did it!
Time to go down the slide! | If you have socks on, you slide better.
Week 5: |
Hey, how's it going? | This week, I went to Sea World with friends...
Then I watched some TV with my doll. | Hey, I'd rather get picked up!
Later, I gave my doll a fake pacifier. | Halloween preview: this is NOT my costume.
Two hats, a football, and my doll. Watch! | I can catch the football! Watch!
We went to a fair this weekend... | I watched people play basketball...
...and Mommy won a bracelet for me! | Then I saw some llamas... Watch!
That's a neat animal! | I stared for quite a while.
Folks...the true value of this week lies in the videos below!
Here's the movies for this week! |
Alex
plays with the dog... More dog playing, and an "up" request. Alex feeds her doll. Catching the football, wearing a hat! Another football catch...plus a doll! Alex wears two hats...and still has the football. Alex wants to see the llamas! Alex shows she's ready to mother a doll. A Halloween preview? Alex in a lion costume. Potty training? Nope...bubbles! GREAT: Dancing and kissing! A little rambling never hurt anyone. I've got a doll, and an elbow. |
