November, 2002 (Month 18)(images from August 7 to September 5)

Alex Willow is sure growing up quickly;  we're just entering the two-word sayings ("More ice!", "Mommy, up!", etc.).  She probably adds one new word a day, and she's generally starting to get the hang of how things work:  she sings along with songs ("If you're happy and you know it, shout hooray!" ("Hooray!")), she responds to reasoning ("If you eat one more potato, you can get down."), and she recognizes things she likes (certain hats) and things she doesn't (certain hats).  She's still pretty shy, verbally, for the first few minutes after she enters a crowded room, but it doesn't take long before she's tearing around a new environment, babbling away.  Her usage of utensils is getting very good, and she can tell us when she needs a new diaper ("poo poo").  Her sleep habits aren't bad...she actually goes to sleep pretty well now, although she's prone to waking up once or twice (especially at around 5am).

This week's pictures are all the way at the bottom of the page (week 5)!

Week 1: I'm a cat...but at a Halloween party, I hugged a dog! Here I am reflecting on being a cat.

(Last picture at the party) Cats eat, right? OK...getting ready to go trick-or-treating!

But first...some raisins.  Cats eat raisins, right? My first trick-or-treating experience!

I was a little afraid at first... ...but these people seemed nice enough.

Mommy helped me out... ...and I got candy!  Score!

Grandpa and Daddy helped me walk sometimes. I went to about 20 houses!

All in all, a great night!  "Owwww!" Look, I've got a ball and new glasses...
Here's the videos for this week!

When you're a cat, you say "meow"!
Kissing mommy and daddy in my costume!
No meows this time, but lots of smiles!

...and Paymon came over to see me in them!

Week 2:
It's my first trip on a plane! (I was SO well-behaved.) I even looked out the window! (A lot!)

There was only a little snow on the ground... ...when we got there...but it was cold!

And bright!  I needed my sunglasses on. OK, it's cold.  Mommy, pick me up.

Yay!  It's nice and warm at the bed and breakfast! I ran around with my doll a lot!

And I played with Mommy, too. (She's funny!) Then we went and played on a playground...

...and it was cold there, too. The Olympic park was neat!  Here's the ski jump!

And here's the start of the bobsled.  Hi! There was some guy skiing on the ceiling!

And Mommy and I rode a luge!  Whoa! Finally...it's snowing!

Wow, look at all the snow! Hey, it's the owl from Harry Potter! (Really!)

Look, the snow is really coming down now! It was cold, though.  Even the doll was cold.

I'm not so sure about this snow thing. It's pretty and all...but...

...I think I'll just stand here and wave. Here's me and Mommy on the sled! (Watch!)

And here's me and Daddy! (Watch!) We made snow angels...but it was too cold.

I'm ready to go home! Ah, back in sunny San Diego!

I need my shades here! Mommy drew on me...I kept asking for more!

Look, I'm a cat! And I have lots of drawings on me.  Yay!
Here's the movies for the week: It's cold out in the snow!
Here's me and Daddy sledding!
And then Mommy took me down the hill!

Week 3 begins here!
I copy Daddy by squinting my eyes! This is my off-the-shoulder look.

Mommy got me a play kitchen! I can cook pretty well now.

Here, Daddy -- have a cooked apple. OK...time to blow this joint.

We went to just "one" wedding this weekend. I danced the jitterbug!

Hey, who's the crazy guy with the camera? I embrace the world, and it embraces me.

I love to watch other kids dance. (And I don't mind being the center of attention.)

People kept trying to pick me up. But Mommy's my favorite holder.

These girls blew bubbles for me. I love just being one of the girls!
Here's the two movies for the week: I'm dancing (and sitting) at the wedding!
Watch me play (and say) peek-a-boo!
Week 4:
Is it Mardi Gras?  Well...I *am* flashing... ...flashing a SMILE, of course.

It's Saturday morning! Daddy used too much flash here.

Yay!  I love the weekends! Is that Peanut fetching a ball!  Ha ha!

Go get it, Peanut! Ooh...did he get the ball?

I'm just not sure. OK, now it's Sunday.  I'll smile if you ask.

Hey, the phone's ringing! Hi, Papa! (Watch me talk on the phone!)
Here's the six movies for the week, all taken on Sunday morning:

Here's me being generally happy.
Here I am answering the phone.
If you're happy and you know it...
What's this? I'll tell you.
A similar video...just a little different.
Ask me to smile, and I will!

Week 5:
The family took a walk outside! (Watch Mommy chase me!) I played with the ice plant (like always).

And I crunched the leaves (like always). I grabbed this tree (like I always do).

And I went on the tire swing (just like every day). Watch! This week, I learned to play the harmonica.

I'm already pretty good! Watch! I even played the cymbals a little.

It's Thanksgiving dinner! I love turkey (but not mashed potatoes).

What, Mommy?  You have dessert? Daddy, what's this red stuff?

Oh, it's jello! Yum!  (I really like jello.)

Yay!  Jello! A big smile to finish!
Here's the movies for the week: Daddy and Alex play outside.
Mommy chases Alex!
Alex picks up (and throws) a rock.
Alex loves the tire swing!
A musical baby?  How about the harmonica?
