In October, Alex is flourishing in kindergarten!  She is reading more and more fluently in blue reading.  Her teachers say Alex is working very hard and is so much more focused (when she was three years old Alex used to sing and talk to herself all day long; when she was supposed to place objects under the sound they started with, she would tell a story to the teacher with each object). This is very different from the quiet, focused worker she is now.  One of her favorite subjects is Chinese.  She is learning to speak, read and write Chinese and she loves it. 

Alex is playing with lots of friends at school.  She is often with Santana, Anna, Hannah, Leona and sometimes Tia, Max, Rosi, Avi, and other friends from K-2.   Alex has a new friend at school named Zachary that she likes very much.  He is from China (but not Chinese) and they often play prince and princess together. 

Alex loves her little brother Chase so much!  She'll do anything for him. She often helps Mommy by getting diapers, wipes, blankets, socks, and clothes.  She loves to pick out his clothes the most.  She always wants to hold him and she plays this sweet game with him where she asks him where his toes are and then tells him. She does it in a sing-songy voice and Chase seems to really enjoy it.  Alex also reads to Chase everyday.  She reads at least three books a day to him and he calms at the sound of her voice. 

For Halloween, Alex dressed up as Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter stories.  She actually looked a lot like her.  She had the school skirt and shirt but wouldn't put on the tie. She had the cloak, a light-up wand and a "magic" book.  It was a neat costume.  Many of the kids in her class didn't know who she was but she'd patiently explain each time.  She is a big Harry Potter fan.
