November, 2003 (Month 30)(images from August 7 to September 5)

(This is very "stream of consciousness", so bear with the rambling style!)  As Alex nears 2 1/2, we're most impressed by her creativity.  She can get a group of kids to look at an imaginary frog in her hands, or turn combs into "monkeys" jumping on the "bed" (the floor).  She doesn't get bored waiting around...she usually makes up a game or acts out a scenario to keep herself busy.  She makes up songs (both tunes and lyrics) -- they're often very funny.  She's got a great sense of humor, often making jokes or saying funny things to get people to laugh.  She's very empathetic for her age -- she doesn't like to see people cry or be sad, and she'll go to them (not just her parents, but other kids and people) and put her arm around them to make it all better.  She loves babies:  baby dolls, baby animals, baby balls -- anything small or little, and she likes them to be with their mommies (big dolls, or animals, or balls, etc.).  She "talks" for her animals and dolls:  "Where's my mommy?", says the doll.  "I'm going to bed", says the baby horse.  Her vocabulary is excellent -- she picks up new words and phrases, and uses them correctly, quickly.  (Yesterday I introduced her to "Silver", the color, and she was repeating it to Mommy the next day, unabated.)  Her use of vocabulary is funny and impressive:  "Oh, mommy -- look at the baby dolphin.  Isn't he wonderful?"  "That's very interesting, isn't it?"  She's great with her sister -- she really loves her.  "She's my best friend!"  She holds her hand when they're in the car:  "Look, Mommy -- we're holding hands!"  She'll do anything to hold her sister (put away her toys, whatever...as long as she can hold her!).  And she's almost potty-trained...she has a few mistakes here and there, but she wears underwear during the day, and she enjoys going pee-pee and poo-poo in the potty!  Also, she's very attached to her Mommy -- while Daddy can generally do things that Mommy usually does (give her a bath, put her to bed, etc.), she always prefers Mommy to do them.  And sometimes will cry in an attempt to get her way.  She's also very musical -- she sings and dances whenever she can, and she knows the words to about 50 songs!

We went trick-or-treating twice. First with Nina and Poppa and Mommy...

and later with just Mommy and Daddy. I had lots of fun saying "trick or treat"!

Look at all the candy I got!  (I LOVE candy.) I'm playing in my dollhouse!  (Watch!)

Mommy took me to the zoo... ...and then I played with Peanut in the garage!

It's lots of fun...watch us play! I just love to hold my sister, even if it's almost bath time.

Here, Charlie...look at one of my favorite dolls! Yay!  With two swings, we can swing together!
Here are the four movies for the week:

Watch me play in my dollhouse! (10 sec.)
I talk to the dolls, and tell them what to do. (18 sec.)
It's time for bed, dolls! (I'm pretty creative.) (25 sec.)
Peanut and I love to play with his toy in the garage! (8 sec.)

Nov. 11-Nov. 30
I love to go to ballet class... ...sometimes they let us dance with animals!

The teddy bear and I are ballerinas! Did you know Charlie and I have the same hat?

Hmm...a trip to Home Depot...where should I go? Maybe I'll bother Charlie a little bit.

Or maybe I'll give my classic fake smile. It was very windy at the playground...

...but Mommy kept me warm. Charlie and I went on the swings together! (Watch!)

And then we all went on the slide. At the parade, I jumped in the leaves! (Watch!)

It was lots of fun... ...and I threw them over my head!

More, more, more!  (I didn't want to leave.) But I also liked watching the floats go by with Daddy.

Now up in Sonoma, here's me and cousin Orion! Aunt Denise/Uncle Eddie gave us gifts! (Papa helped)

Ooh, look at this neat whistle I got! (And rash I have.) Daddy swung me and Savannah around! (Watch!)

And I gave Daddy a kiss for that. And then me and Savannah hugged...

...and then I ran away to go jump in more leaves! (This is a post-leave jump by Sam, Eddie's niece.)

And here's my fake smile again! OK, one more picture with Daddy...

...and then a quick family one (minus Charlie). Papa and I sat together at the table...

...while Daddy held Charlie and Orion. I also got a little lap time with Mommy...

...and Daddy was smart enough to catch it on film! Nina held Charlie, and I tried to help.

At the amusement park, I flew on a plane! I made it go up and down like a pro...

...of course, Savannah helped. Whee...here we go!

I also got to ride the Merry-go-Round (which I LOVE). Then we all rode on a train!

Mommy, what's that camera doing? Oh, a picture?  OK, I'll give you a real smile this time.

Here's Daddy and I going on a ferris wheel! Wow, it's so much fun! (Right, Daddy?)

This is us, way up high! (I loved it!) Nice to see you, Aunt Denise and Uncle Eddie!

Now we're about to visit GG together. I'm holding the ice water to help my bee sting.

Charlie and I are both sick...we try to sleep it off. At Uncle Jordan and Aunt Kathy's new home...

Here are the 4 movies for this edition:

I jumped in the leaves at the parade! (9 sec.)
Charlie and I went on the swings together. (4 sec.)
Daddy swung Savannah and me all around! (4 sec.)
After Thanksgiving, we got to ride on planes! (8 sec.)

  ...I didn't feel so good.
