December, 2002 (Month 19)(images from August 7 to September 5) |
As far as we can tell, Alex is developing right on schedule for an 18-month old. She seems to be pretty advanced in the talking arena (she probably has a 100-word spoken vocabulary, and understands far more than that), although she's hesitant to use her vocabulary unless she's very comfortable in her surroundings. (Aunt Kathy, hearing Alex playing with Mommy and Daddy in another room, said that Alex said more in a few minutes with just her parents around then she did the entire weekend with the family around.) But she's walking and running real well, and she really likes danger -- surprises, being thrown up in the air, going down slides -- she's not afraid of much. She also loves musical instruments; it only took her a few tries to understand the harmonica and flute, and her pianos and drums get played all the time. She's very independent, but she's also very affectionate. With other children, she's very aggressive...not in a harmful way -- she's just the one to initiate contact or introduce herself. She's got a very strong personality. This week's pictures are near the bottom of the page (week 4)! |
