Without question, Alex Willow is no longer a toddler or a baby:  she's definitely a little girl.  She communicates her needs very well, and her vocabulary gets larger and larger every day.  She puts together very long, detailed sentences, and her memory is fantastic (it's amazing how she can tell you the details of things that happened earlier in the day, or a month ago).  She seems to have stopped taking naps in the last week or so;  not the greatest trend for a tired and pregnant Mommy.  She enjoys playing with her friends, and the other day when Grace and Georgio were over, Alex stole the stroller from him.  When told that Georgio was sad, Alex said "OK, he can have the stroller, but can I put the doll in it?"  (Later that evening, she told Daddy -- who wasn't there -- about the whole thing!)  She recognizes most sports when they come up on TV (tennis, basketball, baseball, football, golf, hockey, etc.), and she's excellent at following complex directions ("Alex, the doll is in Daddy's office.  Go down and get her and bring up Daddy's keys, too.").  Her appetite is usually very good, and -- unless she's tired -- she rarely breaks down and cries.  Great stuff all around!

Sometimes bracelets are fun to chew on. But I'd rather play with my dolls!
 
  I'm riding the panda on the Merry-go-round. (Watch!) Daddy was brave enough to get on with me.
 
  I'm a very accomplished shopper. (Watch!) Here I am at the pool! (Lots of swimming...)
 
  This is me and Georgio... (Watch!) ...and here's his sister Grace! (Watch!)
 
Another day at the pool...it's very sunny out here! After swimming with Daddy...
I put on Mommy's hat! And then I made this cute face.
Before I left, I put on the swim goggles... ...is this right, Mommy?
The next day, I went swimming with Natalie. Actually, splashing is more like it. (Watch!)
 
  Afterwards, we relaxed by riding a horse... ...and just hanging out on the couch.
 
  In the afternoon, we went to a birthday party! The next day, we all went to the beach.
 
  Daddy and I like to play in the waves!  (Watch!) And I like to run around! (Watch!)
 
  Sometimes we dig in the sand... ...but mostly I just run from the waves.  (Watch!)
 
  Daddy showed me how to wash my hands. I just love the beach...
 
  ...especially when I dry off and get snacks! We're going to play miniature golf?
 
  OK, let me just get a quick drink first. First, Daddy showed me how to do it.
 
  Then I just put the ball in the hole! (Watch!) Then Mommy showed me how again...
 
  ...and I made it in the Shoe house! But it's definitely easier...
 
  ...to just put the ball in the hole with my hands. This is tiring work!
 
  Hello?  Is this the three little pigs' house? Now it's time to make some faces.
 
  This is my happy face... ...and this is my "oh my goodness!" face.
 
  This is my laughing face... ...and this is my sad face.
 
  One last time at the beach... ...I found a shell!
 
  Daddy and I did some serious digging... ...and then we went swimming

I don't like the seaweed at the beach. (5 sec.)
But I love it when Daddy swings me around! (11 sec.)
The beach is a great place to jump around. (21 sec.)
It's also fun to run everywhere! (12 sec.)

Weeks 3-4: Before Charlotte came home, I rode Peanut! He's a lot of fun to ride!
 
  This is me smiling in Daddy's office. Now we're at the hospital!
 
  Nina, I got her...don't worry about it! Daddy, you ready to take the picture?
 
  Now we're home!  I kiss my baby sister! I have to groom her.
 
  It's raining!  Time to go outside... ...but I have to go with my umbrella!
 
  I walked up and down...watch! In this picture, not only do I have my hat on...
 
  ...but also my backpack! Charlotte gave it to me!
 
  Speaking of Charlotte...I hold her all the time. Especially on the bed...watch!
 
  I like to hold her hand. And here's our first walk together!
