October, 2003 (Month 29)(images from August 7 to September 5)

It certainly is fun to talk with Alex these days.  While she still struggles with some complicated concepts, there's very little she can't discuss or comprehend.  (When the supermarket workers were on strike, she pretty quickly understood that they were unhappy that they weren't getting paid enough, and that's why they were carrying signs.)  But it's great to hear her say "I missed you, Daddy!" when returning from a trip, or the classic "I love you very much, Daddy" when she's going to bed at night.  She's a huge shrimp fan these days (she won't stop eating it), and she's pretty clear about what she wants to eat at meals (but she's a pretty good eater).  She still pines for Mommy at certain times (bath time, bed time), but she's pretty easy-going if she's not too tired.  She's taking ballet class and going to school.  Alex isn't thrilled about talking on the phone still (she clams up pretty quickly), but she's become a very good sharer with her friends!

See, it goes in my mouth here! But I can't wait for my favorite food:  SHRIMP!

Now I'm singing Happy Birthday to Daddy! (Watch!) I love to sit with Charlotte on the bed.

Although sometimes I squeeze a little too hard. Here's a fake smile for the camera, Mommy!

I just love to carry around my doll like a baby... ...especially when I'm a flower girl!

Here, Mommy...you want to hold her? Maybe I can hold Charlie now? (I do sometimes.)

Yay! Charlie, get ready to be picked up!
Ugh, my back teeth are coming in! Daddy, what happened to Nemo?
He's dead?  We have to send him back to the ocean. I cried a little bit after this.
But happier times:  my first ballet class! I was a little nervous, but I got the hang of it.

I wonder what the teacher is going to do next? Maybe I'll go play with this girl.

Better yet, I'll just hang out with my friends. C'mon, girls!  Let's all go around in a circle!
Here are the six movies for the week, "Alex's greatest hits" edition:

Watch me sing!
The ABC's (31 sec.)
Happy Birthday to Daddy! (17 sec.)
The National Anthem, part 1 (22 sec.)
The National Anthem, part 2 (21 sec.)
Rock-a-bye-baby (21 sec.)
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (34 sec.)

All right!  It's time for ballet again! Nina and Charlie came to watch me this time.

OK, here's one move I can do... ...it's called the arabesque.

Teacher, is this how you do it? Now we're doing a little dance... (Watch!)

...and here I'm listening closely to the teacher. Look, we're butterflies!

Charlie and I are wearing overalls... ...because we're going to the pumpkin patch!

It was too hot...even too hot to jump! (Watch!) So we came home and took some pictures.

Look, it's all three girls... ...sitting in our overalls is funny!

We're both wearing overalls.  See? I'm wearing my pink hat with Daddy.

Aaah!  A slurbert! Time for a bath...sometimes I help wash Charlotte.

Something was very funny! Look, I'm running around in my overalls! (Watch!)

After I touched the bush... ...I started making faces.  I'm so sad!

This is my cheeky look... ...and this is me looking surprised!

Daddy's shoulder is a nice place to nap. We'll finish with some pictures of me and Charlie.

First I tilted my head one way... ...and then the other.  (I'm so cute!)
Here are the seven movies for the week:

I hopped with the panda at ballet! (7 sec.)
Now I danced around with the teacher! (4 sec.)
Whew!  It's tiring to run barefoot! (12 sec.)
But not too tired to do a little hopping and running. (11 sec.)
I do a lot of talking to Charlie in this video. (28 sec.)
It was too hot at the pumpkin patch! (11 sec.)
