We welcomed Chase Bennett Fisher into the world at 6:45am on the morning of Saturday, September 30, 2006.

Mommy went into labor at 3:30 am, just after the monthly poker game ended (Daddy had gotten an hour of sleep before Mommy's water broke). We headed to the hospital, and after a comparitively easy and short delivery (3 hours start to finish), Chase made his debut appearance.

He made everything so easy on Mommy, in fact, that we were sent home just over 24 hours later.  Chase's sisters (Alex and Charlie) were thrilled to finally meet and hold him.

A quick overview of Chase's first few weeks of life:

  • He was 7 pounds even, and 20 inches long (the smallest of the three Fisher Kids).

  • He had a bit of jaundice in the first weeks, that's just now going away.

  • He's quite the eater, sleeper and sucker (and pooper)...that about covers his activities during this first month.

Mommy made a photo slideshow, and we've also got pictures from the first week of life.

 
We took pregnancy photos the day before the birth! Alex and Charlie gave him their love.
They tried to hear Chase say something... ...but I don't think he was in the talking mood.

Introducing Chase Bennett Fisher! Weighing in at 6 pounds, 15.8 ounces.
He had a healthy heartbeat (and hardly cried). Daddy got first dibs on holding him.
A little smile here, a little kiss there. Now it's Dr. Schaefer's turn! (He did a great job.)
Mommy felt good enough to get in on the action. She tried to figure out who he looked like.
Successful nursing, moments after birth! Alex and Charlie came to visit an hour or two later.
Alex was thrilled to hold her baby brother. Nina took our first family photo!
Charlie got to hold Chase too. Alex didn't want to let him go. (Mommy made sure.)
Here's Nina and Papa with their grandchildren! Papa was pretty excited.

They cleaned him up good while Daddy stood watch. He had enough hair that it needed to be combed.

Um, my heart is a little higher up. My first attempt at passing gas.
Hey, I'm actually pretty cute! The next day, the girls came over again...
...and we took a few shots before we left. Here's the family, day 2!
Nina and Papa held me again... ...and then got one more shot with all the grandkids.
Charlie was thrilled that we could head home... ...and so we packed up and left.

Alex got some more holding practice in. There's a lot of it happening.
