In July, Alex started swimming just about every day.  Maybe it had something to do with the heat wave or maybe it was just a summer thing.  She and Charlie would beg Mommy and Daddy to take them to the pool everyday.  Alex decided that she didn't want Summer school, summer camp, or any kind of lesson this summer.  She just wanted to stay home with Mommy and Charlie.  The only places the girls went was the park or the pool.  But by mid-July Alex was ready to get back to school. She asked to go to summer school but it was all full.  There was no room for her and she was sad. 

Alex has been showing her empathetic side this summer as she takes care of Mommy.   She helps her do all kinds of big girl things.  She is also a very good big sister.  She helps Charlie and shares with her (most of the time).  She tells me Charlie is her best friend.  The girls do not like to be separated. 

Alex's creativity continues to blossom. She still loves drawing and art (there are almost no days where she doesn't sit at her desk and make something).  She (and her sister) have been asking for Halloween stories  since June, and they are thrilled that the holidays are approaching.

Alex loves animals.  She is very attached to her kittens (and yes, we have 5 cats these days) and her dogs (2 dogs- Rani Rainbow Flower and Peanut Butter).  Often Alex carries Willie or  Buddy under her arm to dress them in baby clothes.  She can't stand the scene in Lady and Tramp where all the dogs are locked in the pound.  She cries and cries..  She loves playing with small dogs, cats and  little ponies.

When it was Charlie's birthday, Alex treated her like a princess.  She dressed her up and did her hair.  She was great!  The only time there was a little envy was when it was time to open presents.  That was hard for her.  But Charlie offered to share and Nani got Alex one little gift of her own.  In the end, she enjoyed that day almost as much as Charlie.

Alex has another first: Her first loose tooth!  It's just starting to wiggle and boy is she excited!  She can't wait for the tooth fairy to come.  She has a special little tooth fairy box next to her bed to put her loose tooth in when it falls out.
